Hello San Diego, It seems that event organizers are making up for lost time. Lots of things to see, hear and experience in our wonderful city by the sea! From today to Sunday, the opera Dido & Aeneas will be performed at Bread & Salt. Today (Friday), Los Lobos will perform in Temecula. There will be an opening for the La Jolla Historical Society for The Smallest Show on Earth Exhibition. You can dine and watch a dance performance by Jillina (with live music) at Sufi Mediterranean Cuisine. Ain’t Misbehavin - The Fats Waller Musical Show will open at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido. At the Worldbeat Center, Mama Charlotte will read her poetry and talk about her unique life experiences. Billie! Backstage with Lady Day open at the Oceanside Theatre with performances through the first weekend in October. At Balboa Theatre, Argentinian singer Amanda Miguel and her daughter Ana Victoria Verdaguer will perform. The Azúcar Band will perform at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido. At Encore Events in Clairemont Mesa, there will be a late-night Desi Naach Pan Indian Dance Party. Saturday and Sunday, the San Diego International Dragon Boat Race and the Pacific Islander Festival, the Adams Avenue Street Fair, and Carlsbad Artwalk will all be happening. So many choices! Saturday, the Chinese Historical Museum will host an online talk on the Maritime Silk Road. The Director and Curator at Barona Cultural Center & Museum, Laurie Egan-Hedley, will speak at Los Penasquitos Ranch House. At Marie Widman Park, there will be a Black Family Empowerment Day Celebration. The International Rescue Committee will host a Diversity Through Design fashion show showcasing designers from Iraq, Mexico, Uganda, Afghanistan, Somalia, Togo, and Syria. At Golden Door Country Store, there will be a Kimchi Workshop. At the Quartyard, there will be an Oktoberfest celebration with food, drink, music, and dance. Indian vocalist Sanjeevani Bheland will sing at Qualcomm Auditorium. At the Coronado Library, Javier Zamora will discuss his book Solito. There will be a Pepele & Basile Flamenco Fusion Rock performance at Cafe Bar Europa The Turquoise. Sunday, the annual British Car Day returns to Spanish Landing Park. At Grape Day Park in Escondido, the Fiestas Patrias Festival will take place with music, dance, arts, food, and more. Encanto will, once again, be shown atop the Manchester Grand Hyatt. And rounding out next weekend's events, Latino artists Miguel Mateos and Mikel Erentxun will perform at the House of Blues. Monday, Swedish singer/songwriter Lykke Li will perform at the Observatory in North Park. Tuesday, at the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library, a lecture series will begin on the legendary Sergei Diaghilev. Welsh singer Cat Le Bon will be at the Belly Up. Next Thursday, Alliance San Diego will celebrate their decade-and-a-half of activism with a Quinceañera party. Warwick's will host an author talk with Madhushree Ghosh & Natashia Deón who will discuss their latest books. The Yamma Ensemble will perform at UCSD's Loft. Next weekend, the city of La Mesa will hold its annual 3-day Oktoberfest. Also throughout next weekend (as well as the following weekend) Romeo and Juliet will be performed at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Next Friday, Mariachi Garibaldi will perform at the California Center for the Arts At Paradise Point Resort & Spa, ACMA's 2nd annual Asian Pacific Cultural Showcase will take place. Gloria Trevi, "The Supreme Diva of Mexican Pop," will perform at Viejas Arena. Famous reggae artist Don Carlos will be giving a concert at the Belly Up. Next Saturday and Sunday (as well as all of the following weekend), the El Cajon Oktoberfest will happen. Next Saturday, the House of Philippines will present their annual Lawn Program which they are calling A Taste of the Philippines. Julian Town Hall will be the site of the Saint Elizabeth of Hungary’s 25th Oktoberfest. Carlsbad will hold their 40th annual Oktoberfest next Saturday. At the EC Gallery in Solana Beach, there will be an Exhibition of International Street Art. At St. George - Serbian Orthodox Church, the annual San Diego Serbian Fest will be held. In the late afternoon, Coco will be shown atop the Manchester Hyatt. An Inaugural Filipino American History Gala will be held at University of San Diego. At SDSU's Open Air Theatre, Hawaiian reggae pop group Kolohe Kai will play. Italian singer/songwriter Zucchero will perform at the Balboa Theatre. Next Sunday, San Diego Watercolor Society's 42nd International Exhibition Opening will take place. The exhibition will run through to the end of October. In Chula Vista, the Filipinos of South Bay Exhibit will have its Grand Opening. The exhibit will continue until the end of the year. At the Encinitas Library, Patrick Berrogain's Hot Club Combo will perform music in the style of the late great Django Reinhardt. Bread and Salt will celebrate the wide range Mexican alcoholic refreshments at their Mexico in a Bottle event. Spanish singer and songwriter Rosalía will perform at the SDSU Open Air Theatre. Five-time Latin GRAMMY® winner Camilo will perform at Pechanga Arena.
